Gippsland Lakes overview

Gippsland Lakes or “the Lakes”, as they are affectionately known by locals, is Australia’s largest natural enclosed waterway being 103 km long. Seven fresh water rivers flow into the Lakes to sustain life and create amazing geological features such as the Mitchell River silt jetties. The Lakes are primarily known for their bird life with more than 190 species of birds.
