How to pack your kayak
  • LOCATION: Portarlington is located 1.5 hours drive south of Melbourne on the west coast, ½ hour drive from Geelong. Meet at campsite office, Sproat St., Portarlington, Melway reference 239 D2
  • DESCRIPTION:The Portarlington, St. Leonards, Swan Bay and Queenscliff areas are rich in maritime history including shipwrecks, submarines, historical fishing villages, and a Fort built in case of Russian invasion. St. Leonards is recently famous for providing backdrops for the hit TV series “Sea Change”. Portarlington has a well established aqua culture industry that may be studied. Swan Bay is a fantastic bird and wildlife habitat and has recently been included as part of the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park. Camping is at a mix of foreshore camping grounds, caravan park and a Yacht club. This is definitely an area for outdoor and environmental science students. There is also an opportunity to visit the Marine education centre at Queenscliff.
