The aim of this class is to give you the skills and knowledge necessary to handle a sea kayak in breaking waves and undertake a day trip in open water. The aim of this class is to give you the skills and knowledge necessary to handle a sea kayak in breaking waves, how to catching waves (and stay up right) and how to disembark from a beach landing in safety. You will also learn about paddling through a surf zone. A sea kayak can be supplied or you can bring your own. Barwon Heads has gentle waves so this is a safe environment to practice your surf zone skills.
Single kayak, paddle, PFD, spray deck, pump, spray jacket, thermals, wet suits are all supplied and included in the cost. We will fit you to the most suitable single kayak in relation to your height and weight. You can also bring your own sea kayak for a reduced rate.
DURATION: 1 Day (9:30 am to 3:30 pm)
