Have fun kayaking along the beach in the hub of Melbourne in summer - St Kilda. See Little Penguins on the break water, catch a glimpse of Williamstown. Beautiful views of Melbourne cityscape. Stop for a break along the way and have lunch on the beach.
LOCATION: 300m north of Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, Pier Rd, on the beach side of Catani Gardens, St Kilda
DESCRIPTION: St Kilda beach is the hub of Melbourne in spring/summer so there is always alot to see and experience.
After a gearing you up, adjusting your rudders and a safety talk, you jump on the water. The adventure begins with a paddle towards the St Kilda Pier and kiosk. This area is protected by a break water so there is lots of time to get use to your double kayak and develop your paddling skills. See penguins along the break water, people fishing, kiteboards, people playing the drums etc.
The group then ventures out beyong the break water and experiences small swell as they make their way up towards Port Melbourne. You get great views of Melbourne City, Williamstown and Port Melbourne as you paddle along.
Half way through the tour you stop at Middle Park for lunch. Gourmet rolls and a drink is provided on the beach. There is a chance to socialise with your fellow paddlers.
The group then paddles back to the start.
This tour is a sampler of what sea kayaking is like with out getting too tired and still having fun.
This is a 3.5 hour tour with 2.5 hours of paddling time.
